Best for Toddlers

For Toddlers who are walking, and pre-schoolers transitioning to a big bed.

What is a Sleep Suit Sack?

The award-winning, multi-functional Sleep Suit Sack is a safe-sleep pouch that cleverly converts from a traditional Sleeping Sack, to a Sleep Suit with Legs, using the 4-way zipper configuration. Perfect for use in a 5-point harness (such as a stroller for babies who like to sleep on the go), or for active toddlers who prefer leg freedom during sleep.

Materials & Care

Materials

Outer & Lining: 100% Organic Cotton
Side Panels & Sleeves: 95% Organic Cotton 5% Elastane

The Sleep Suit Bag is made from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton that is non-toxic and gentle on irritable skin. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic water based dyes. The Sleep Suit Bag is reviewed by the Eczema Association of Australasia (EEA) as a skin-friendly product.

The 0.2 TOG Jersey Sleep Suit Bag is made from a stretchy, soft knit organic cotton material, with elastane.  Similar to how a t-shirt feels. The 1.0 TOG Sleep Suit Bag is made from a woven organic cotton. With no elastane, the 1.0 TOG material feels like a bed sheet.

Care

  • How to wash and dry your Sleep Suit Sack
  • Gentle cold machine wash
  • Low tumble dry
  • Moderately hot iron
  • Dry cleanable
  • Do not use bleach based stain removers

When cared for properly, this product will last several years and can be used for more than one baby. Our TOGs don't lose their warmth ratings over time, but a gentle fluff up in the dryer on a low setting helps maintain the fibre's loft, allowing air to circulate more effectively.

For more information see our Washing & Drying Tips.

Converts from a Sleep Sack to a Sleep Suit with Legs

The award-winning, convertible design features a four-way zip that transforms the Sleep Sack into a Sleep Suit with legs, and back again.

A walking toddler who has newfound leg freedom may no longer want to be confined by a Sleep Sack, resulting in refusal to settle to sleep, or removing the Sleep Sack altogether!

The Sleep Suit Sack helps to overcome this by transitioning from a bag to a suit with legs. In the ‘legs’ configuration, your little mover will be able to have more leg freedom for sleep karate.

In 'Legs' mode, the suit can also provide more stability for adventurous toddlers attempting to climb over the Crib. If they to manage to get over, having separated legs will help stabilize their fall, reducing the risk of injury.

Premium materials made to last

The luxurious 400-thread-count organic Cotton is a woven material, and feels silky smooth on the skin (like the sheets on your bed). The sheeting material is our most premium, made for unyielding performance and enduring comfort from child to child.

More to Love

Three Sleeve Options

The Sleep Suit Sack comes in a sleeveless, cap sleeve or full-length sleeve to cater for temperature variability throughout the year.

Sleep on the go

In ‘legs’ mode, the Sleep Suit Sack can be used in a 5 point harness such as a stroller, carrier or car seat* making it perfect for travelling. As the product will act as a sleep cue for your child, if you are planning to sleep them on the go in a stroller or car seat, the product will make this easy for you to settle your little one and give them the signal that its time for sleep.

TOG-rated for temperature regulation

The Sleep Suit Sack is made from and filled with organic cotton for breathability and temperature regulation. The TOG-rating means you do not need additional blankets in the sleep environment.

We got you.

Read more FAQs
Do I use blankets on top of the Sleep Suit Sack?

The Sleep Suit Sack is TOG rated, meaning they have an insulation grade making them warm enough to use for sleep without loose bedding, and are designed to replace blankets. It is recommended by safe sleep guidelines to sleep your child with their face and head uncovered, and their crib free from loose bedding, pillows and toys.

If you have an older toddler or preschooler who is blanket training (not before 2Y of age), it is possible to use a light blanket on top of a Sleep Suit Sack while they get used to pulling the blanket up. Please do not use a loose blanket in the sleep space with a baby younger than 2 years.

What size Sleep Suit Sack should I buy?

The Sleep Suit Sack can be used from age 3 months, once your little one is rolling and has converted from swaddling to arms-out sleeping. The Sleep Suit Sack comes in four sizes. Follow our Size Guide using your baby's weight and height to find the most appropriate size. The Sleep Suit Sack should be fitted around the neck and arm holes to prevent bunching, and the risk of riding up around baby's nose and mouth.

As a general guide, for an average size baby we recommend:

3–12 months: We recommend Sack mode.
8–24 months: We recommend Suit mode around 12—15 months of age, when your little one starts to walk.
2–4 years: We recommend only using Suit mode to prevent injury in the event of crib climbing or leaving the bed during the night.
4–6 years: We recommend only using Suit mode to prevent injury in the event of crib climbing or leaving the bed during the night.
6–8 years: We recommend only using Suit mode to prevent injury in the event of crib climbing or leaving the bed during the night.

Why are the sleeves on the 2.5 and 3.5 TOG not padded?

As a baby regulates their body temperature through their arms and head, ergoPouch 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG bags are padding-free in the sleeves for safety and comfort. The Sleeves are made from our soft 1.0 TOG Organic Cotton and Bamboo blend, for stretch, warmth and breathability. The lighter fabric provides extra warmth, while still allowing baby to release heat from their extremeties if needed.

What does my child wear under the Sleep Suit Sack?

This will vary from a diaper (or underwear if your child is toilet trained), through to a undershirt or bodysuit, through to our TOG-rated Rompers and Pajamas, depending on the room temperature and their age and developmental stage. Follow our What to Wear dressing guide (included with your pouch) to layer appropriately underneath, according to your room temperature and what TOG Pouch you use. It's a simple-to-follow guide to give you peace of mind in dressing your baby for sleep, no matter the room temperature.

What is a Sleep Suit Sack?

The Sleep Suit Sack is award-winning TOG-rated sleep sack and suit in one. It's designed for infants and toddlers who move their legs a lot during sleep, and don’t like being confined to a sleep sack. The multifunctional design and unique 4-way zip system transform the product from a traditional sleep sack, to a sleep suit with legs. Ideal for toddlers who want more leg freedom during sleep, or for use in a 5-point harness such as a stroller or car seat*.

*Important safety note - do not use a 2.5 TOG or 3.5 TOG product in a car seat as this may cause overheating. *Important safety note - do not use a 2.5 TOG or 3.5 TOG product in a car seat as this may cause overheating.

Can my child walk around in the Sleep Suit Sack?

There are grip pads on the bottom of the Sleep Suit Sack to assist in walking safely if necessary for overnight bathroom trips, or sleepwalking. We do not recommend the Sleep Suit Sack is used outside of sleep as apparel, for safety. As the Sleep Suit Sack acts as a sleep cue, we strongly suggest dressing your child in it just before bedtime/lights out to give them the signal that it is time for bed.

My child's legs keep getting caught in one side, how do I fix this?

If your child is prone to pulling one leg out one side, you may want to try our Sleep Onesie product. This has a slimmer-fit leg and body, and cuffs around the ankles.

When do I stop using the Sleep Suit Sack?

Your child can stop using their Sleep Suit Sack when they're ready to transition to a big bed with blankets (not before 2 years of age). Follow our Crib-to-Bed Transition Guide if you need help with this. Once your child has the hang of blankets, they can stop using their pouch. Our customers tell us this usually happens anytime between 2.5—4 years of age. If your child loves their Sleep Suit Sack and wants to continue to use it as they grow older, it is absolutely safe to! Our Sleep Suit Sack goes up to size 8 years.

How do I stop my child from removing their Sleep Suit Sack?

Those independent, fierce toddlers do not just discover their legs and walking once they reach toddler-hood, but their fine motor skill development often results in the discovery of zips and buttons on their Sleep Sack. It is not uncommon for a toddler to remove their Sleep Sack once you put them down for sleep. Parent’s have reported success with differing techniques, give one of these a go!

1. Use the product in ‘legs’ mode

If you have the product still in the ‘sack’ mode, it may be that your wriggly toddler just needs their leg freedom to be comfy in sleep. Go ahead and try out the ‘legs’ mode to see if it makes a difference.

2. Change the TOG

In some cases, your toddler may feel too hot and be removing it for comfort. If this is the case, check the room temperature and what TOG you are using. Go to a lighter TOG if needed.

3. Ensure the Zip Cover is done up

The Zip Cover is a little fabric flap with a press-stud dome, that goes over the zip guard to prevent curious fingers from accessing and undoing the zip. Ensure this is done up when you put them down for their sleep.

4. Wearing backwards or inside out

If your wiley toddler has figured out the zip cover and nothing can stop them unzipping and remove their Sleep Suit Sack, try putting the product on them backwards, or inside out.

5. Try a different color or print

We often get told by parents that their child prefers a particular color or print in our range. Wearing their favorite color may help your head-strong toddler or pre-schooler settle in for sleep more easily.

So impressed with the quality. I’ve spent so much money on so many different sleep suits and this one is the nicest one I’ve bought yet. Great materials and well made. Plus it really feels like it’s coming from a company that cares about the kids. Will definitely purchase another when my little grows out of it!
