How long can I use the HugMe Blanket for?

The HugMe Blanket is designed to be used from birth (37 weeks+, weight 6.5 lbs+, length 20 in+), for newborns who are not yet rolling. Discontinue use once your baby shows signs of rolling for their safety.

Can I put extra blankets on top of the HugMe Blanket?

We advise you not to add any additional loose bedding into your baby's sleep space. The HugMe Blanket is designed to be used for comfort and security, with varying TOG options for warmth. If you are looking to add more warmth to your child for sleep, we suggest using a higher TOG side of the HugMe Blanket, and/or increasing the TOG rating of their swaddle and under layers. Please refer to our Room Thermometer and HugMe Blanket Dressing Guide for how to dress your baby warmly for sleep.

Does the HugMe Blanket fit a Snoo?

Customers with Snoos have told us the HugMe Blanket fits the Snoo mattress. If you are planning to use with your Snoo, please follow our Fit Guide to ensure your baby is positioned safely and correctly in the bassinet (feet touching end of bassinet); and under the HugMe Blanket (HugMe Blanket should not come up further than mid-chest on baby). As always, discontinue use once your baby shows signs of rolling.

Did the HugMe Blanket undergo any trials or testing?

The HugMe Blanket has been tested both with real ergoPouch customers and leading independent safety organization INPAA. Samples of the HugMe Blanket were provided to 20 customers to test with their child, ranging in ages from 8 weeks to 6 months old, and on a mixture of bassinet and crib mattress sizes. The participants used the product over a period of several days and nights. Most parents (90%) appreciated the settling nature of the Tuck Sheet, claiming it helped their baby settle faster and sleep longer. For parents of babies who were more active in their crib, they found that if their child wriggled out of it, the Tuck Sheet would fall flat against the bed and not pose a suffocation risk. Parents agreed that the HugMe Blanket is most beneficial and safest at the newborn phase, before baby starts rolling and moving. Parents also gave the product a wash test to ensure this didn't impact safety and functionality.

In addition to our parent trials, leading Australian infant safety organization INPAA reviewed samples of the product. The product was tested across different sized crib and bassinet mattresses, and given a wash test. While there are no offical safety standards in Australia applicable for a product like this, INPAA gave an approval for the product against their own safety standards and guidelines for packaging content, warnings, and messaging to educate the customer.

If I have a large bassinet mattress such as the Boori Bassinet, should I buy a bassinet or bedside sleeper size?

The Bedside Sleeper size may be more suited. Please review the size guide for the HugMe Blanket for measurements. Note, a HugMe Blanket that is loose and too large on the mattress will not be safe for your baby.

Will the HugMe Blanket fit a round bassinet mattress?

The HugMe Blanket will fit an oval and rectangular mattress, but not a round mattress.

I've been told not to have ANY bedding in the crib or bassinet at all; how can the HugMe Blanket be safer for sleep?

INPAA, Red Nose Australia, The Lullaby Trust UK and the American Academy of Paediatrics all advise no LOOSE bedding in the sleep space. The HugMe Blanket is a fitted mattress sleeve, that wraps the whole way around the mattress and cannot become loose or untucked. It is designed to fall flat against the bed if a baby wriggles their way up and out of the sheet, and is not classed as loose bedding. When used for the right age baby (newborn, not yet rolling), the design makes it extremely difficult for the baby to pull the product towards their face, or manouever their body underneath it. The HugMe Blanket has been approved as safer for sleep by INPAA and in partnership with the Lullaby Trust UK.

How do I know which TOG side I should have on my child?

Use the 2.5 TOG for extra warmth and comfort or if your baby has a strong startle reflex and needs a firmer fit, the 1.0 TOG side if your baby has mild startle reflex, or the 0.2 TOG side for a lighter weight and stretchier fit. Included on the packaging is a Room Thermometer & HugMe Blanket Dressing Guide, to help you figure out how to layer your baby underneath your chosen HugMe Blanket TOG.

Does the HugMe Blanket fit a co sleeper?

The HugMe Blanket comes in a Bedside Sleeper size, along with a 'Bassinet' and 'Crib' size. Prior to making a purchase, we encourage our customers to check out the sizing dimensions of the HugMe Blanket, and assess whether they will be suitable. All the sizing specifications can be easily found on our website under the product description for the HugMe Blanket, in our site Size Guide, or on our 'Help Me' page.

Is it safe to use a HugMe Blanket when my baby has started rolling?

No. A rolling baby should not be slept in the HugMe Blanket. When you first notice signs of your baby wanting to roll over, it is time to transition them to an arms-out sleep sack and remove the HugMe Blanket from their sleep space. Signs include fighting their swaddle at sleep time, twisting their torso or crossing a leg over the other when lying on their back, rolling onto their side while they are awake, pushing up on their hands during tummy time, or reaching a hand out during tummy time.

Why have you changed the name from Baby Tuck Sheet to Hug Me Blanket?

The HugMe Blanket has been sold globally since 2019 (previously under the name 'Baby Tuck Sheet'). During this time, thousands of babies have enjoyed secure, comforting and warm sleep with the HugMe Blanket, and hundreds of parents have provided glowing reviews and amazing feedback on how the HugMe Blanket has helped their families. We decided to change the name of the product to reflect the global feedback we've received at this time. We decided to change the name to better represent the swaddle-like nature of the product, and how it can be used as a safer blanket alternative. Along with a new name, the HugMe Blanket is getting new packaging and a new winter TOG in the process. Aside from these changes, the HugMe Blanket remains the same design and functionality that families have loved for the past 5 years.

    Wish I had it earlier

The tuck sheet is a great invention. I wish I had it for my first baby who was born in winter and always needed a blanket over the top of the sleeping bags. This time we have a summer baby but it’s still be great to add that extra little bit of snug to baby. I love that you can rotate it to change between TOGS. The only thing I will say is i had a bit of trouble switching the zippers to the tighter one but haven’t needed to use it much

Easy sheet for hip brace babies

Sad we didn’t have this for our first child. Our newborn is in a hip brace so is hard to swaddle but this tuck sheet proves extra pressure and warmth that helps them stay asleep. Nice that it has two TOG’s for summer especially the 1.0 when the air con is on.

    Terrific for newborn

Great for an extra layer of warmth for a newborn without the worry or danger of a blanket. Great that there's two TOG options.
