Drift Away has a 48 hour continuous playback time on a single charge when playing sound only, on the 'white noise' track. That means if you were to playback Drift Away for an average of 8 hours a day, a single charge would last you up to 6 days. An orange light will indicate the battery needs to be charged, and will also show while charging. Using the night light feature, or other sounds, will use up the battery life faster.

Drift Away takes around 2 hours to charge from empty to full battery. We recommend running the battery down completely before charging again. Rechargeable polymer-lithium batteries naturally diminish maximum charging capacity over time. This is expected to happen over several years. You can help preserve the life of a battery by not exposing it to heat sources and not charging erratically.

For a baby, we recommend the sound is turned off after their first successful REM cycle transition, or around 1 hour after they fall asleep. This will help prevent the overuse of noise becoming a sleep crutch and prevent any issues constant sound may present to a baby’s developing auditory processing systems.

1. Measure the width and length of your window.

2. Add 1in to each measurement and cut sheets to appropriate size. This will ensure you don't accidentally under-cut and end up with a gap.

3. Using a spray bottle or a damp cloth, apply water to the window.

4. Peel the blockout from the storage sheet.

5. Gently apply the shiny side of the blockout to the window at the desired height, and smooth the rest of the sheet down with your hand.

Air bubbles? Don’t stress, either smooth using a credit card or simply peel off and start again.

Around 8-12 months of age, your baby may not need white noise to help with sleep. You can wean your baby off white noise by introducing other sleep tools and cues such as a comforter.

The Drift Away White Noise Machine can be charged directly into an electrical outlet using a suitable USB A-to-USB C connector. This is usually an electrical adaptor (wall charger) that supports a USB-A connection with a charging Voltage of at least 5V/0.5A. Using a wall charger less than this capacity will result in the machine not charging the battery optimally and hence may provide a decreased playback time when turned on.

The machines have undergone battery capacity testing during the product development phase and were found to have an expected playback time of 48 hours on a full charge. However, the findings were dependent on many variables that will affect the battery depletion rate. These variables include:

1. Volume of play. If played continuously at the highest volume setting, the battery may deplete faster than 48 hours.
2. Sound selection. The 'White Noise' track is the best to play for optimal battery life. Other tracks may deplete the battery faster.
3. Night light usage. If using the light feature for any period of time, the battery will deplete faster. The battery will deplete quickly if the brightest light setting is used, continuously during sleep.
